Sisters in Spirit Project
Native Womens Association of Canada
Now selling at Full Circle Studio Arts- “Not Forgotten” art cards by Maxine Noel.
To honor and remember the murdered and missing Aboriginal women and girls. With each purchase of this image, Maxine Noel’s royalties and a matching contribution from the publisher will be donated to The Native Women’s Association of Canada (NWAC), whose Sisters In Spirit initiative is dedicated to bringing about a national inquiry and action plan in support of missing Aboriginal women and girls.
For years, our communities have pointed to the high number of missing and murdered aboriginal women and girls in Canada. Although aboriginal females represent only four per cent of the Canadian female population, they account for 16% of murders committed in Canada. Aboriginal women and girls in Canada are especially vulnerable to violence that results in them becoming a missing or murdered statistic. It is time for this to end.
The Native Women’s Association of Canada is dedicated to demanding a National inquiry and a National Action Plan to address the underlying root causes and inequities which create the terrible burden of violence carried by Aboriginal women and girls.
Threshold Housing Society
Full Circle is proud to support Threshold Housing Society.
For 25 years, Threshold has been providing transitional housing for youth aged 16 to 21 years who are at-risk of becoming homeless. Currently they are housing 36 youth who might not otherwise have a home for the holidays.
Please come by the store and pick up a Threshold Holiday Card. These cards are free and can be given to your friends and loved ones in lieu of a traditional gift of goods. Then make a donation of any denomination to Threshold Housing online or by cheque.
Over the past few years, youth homelessness has become a crisis in Greater Victoria, but working together we can turn back the tide. With your help Threshold Housing can continue to provide a nurturing atmosphere to the vulnerable youth of today so they each become contributing citizens of our community tomorrow.
